How to successfully pitch Progressive Web Apps

Eazi-Apps Support • Dec 12, 2017

The latest digital trend to hit the mobile market is Progressive Web Apps. Also known as hybrid apps, they were first introduced by Google as a way to bridge the gap between browser-based searches and native app interfaces. Thanks to the easy access and lack of installation that comes with PWA, more companies are beginning to create their own versions in order to increase the consumer experience and improve their marketing strategy.

If you’re looking to take advantage by developing a PWA, these are just some of the many advantages that will help you win over potential clients and build your new app development business.

App-sceptics

If you’re dealing with a client who is apprehensive about entering the digital market, PWA provide the perfect solution. For anyone unwilling or unable to create a native app, PWA can still provide a sleek and simple app-style interface while not relying on user downloads. Simply having a link to distribute and share means that there’s no need to spend a lot of time trying to increase download figures.

Search engines

One thing you boast about when it comes to PWA is the fact that they are much better suited to mobile searches. Around 60% of internet searches are now made on a mobile device which means that a browser-based app is much more likely to be flagged up when users carry out a search. So if for example, a person is searching for a restaurant, an eatery’s PWA is more likely to show up on Google thanks to its web-based keywords.

More than just a webpage

Many people will have visited a webpage on their smartphone that has been optimised for mobile use but PWA go much further than this. Unlike with mobile websites, users can save the link to a PWA thanks to app-shells. This allows instant access in a similar style to native apps but without the need to download and install it.

Push notifications

Perhaps one of the most useful features of PWA for companies and developers is the ability to instigate push notifications. This is a very useful tool for engaging with users and increasing traffic but has only been available with native apps until recently. PWA include the ability to create push notifications which give brands the ability to notify users about special events and keep them updated on company activities and promotions.
