4 ways to make your app stand out

Patrice Appleton • February 26, 2019

Whatever your business niche, and whether you get an iOS app designed an Android app or a Progressive Web App, one thing is certain – you want your new business app to stand out. With millions of apps all clamouring for attention and downloads, how can you ensure that your new business app hits the mark and achieves the targets that you set for it? Here are four strategies for you to try…

1. Work on your logo

The logo for your app is the best chance to stand out in the App Store or on Google Play straight off the bat. Your app logo gives your creation the chance to stand out from the crowd so it must be eye-catching and attention grabbing. It should also reflect the nature of your app.

2. Create a very compelling description

The description you give your app is absolutely vital. It must be compelling and captivating and entice the reader to hit download. While this is a relatively small chunk of text, that doesn’t diminish its importance and, if you aren’t a natural born wordsmith, it’s worth hiring a copywriter to get this right for you.

3. Make videos and screen shots visible and easily accessible

Human beings are overwhelmingly visual creatures so the more videos and screen shots you can use in marketing your new business app, the better. Videos and images also draw the eye and give would-be users an idea of what to expect from your app, including its design and functionality, before they have to take the step of downloading. Use your images and videos to really sell your app, its functions, features and the user experience.

4. Reviews

Having a focus on acquiring reviews from the moment your app launches is a key way to differentiate your app from competitors. Online reviews are hugely trusted by consumers and can make or break your reputation. The more reviews you have, the more trust potential users feel and the more confident they will be that your app is the one they have been searching for. A key reminder here is to only focus on building genuine reviews – this is an ongoing process but very worthwhile. Today’s consumers and app users are savvy and most can spot a fake review a mile away, which would seriously undermine your efforts to stand out for all the right reasons.
