5 ways to make your new small business app stand out from the crowd

Easy tips to increase your downloads

The average person uses 9 apps per day , which isn’t a lot when you consider that the App Store is now home to over 3.48 million apps.

Here are 5 ways you can ensure your small business app stands out from the crowd to boost your downloads.

1. Consider how your app is displayed in the App Store?

People won’t get to experience how great your app is if it never catches their eye in the App Store.

Make sure that you’ve got an interesting name and logo that stands out against any competing apps to draw attention. Your name and descriptios should also be optimised to show up in search when a customer types a term that is relevant to your app.

You should also ensure your descriptions are clear, enticing and explain why the customer won’t be able to live without your app. Your choice of image here can also make a difference so aim to showcase functionality and go for as high a quality visual as possible.

2. Offer something in return

If a user is deciding whether to download your app, you could seal the deal by offering them something in return.

Easy things that you could offer include the promise of discounts, deals and access to premium features for app users.

3. Make the user experience as smooth as possible

User experience can make or break your app. If a user finds your app difficult to navigate and use, they will uninstall it in short order and find something else.

Important factors that will cause dissatisfaction among users are things like slow loading speeds, bugs and illogical navigation across the app.

These should be things that you perfect before launching the app, and continuously monitor to avoid disappointing customers.

4. Sometimes simplicity is key

When you first launch your app and have lots of ideas, it’s tempting to build as many features as you can, but it may be best to take a step back and focus on simplicity.

It’s much better if your app can perform a few functions really well, rather than having lots of different functions that aren’t so great.

Focus on perfecting the most important parts of your app to draw customers in. Once you’ve done that, you can start thinking about introducing additional features.

5. Ask for feedback

Your app is live and being downloaded on the App Store, so you may think that the hard work is done? Wrong!

An app that stands out is one that is constantly changing and improving in response to customer feedback so make sure to provide the opportunity to collect this information.

Build into your app simple ways for users to report bugs and submit feedback. When you get this information you should also focus on fixing any issues to improve customer experience.
