Inspiration for your new 2021 app design

This year, wellness has taken on a whole new meaning. Whether it’s at home or at work, the concept of wellness has become more popular, and more talked about than ever before as we seek a path through the COVID-19 pandemic. In businesses around the country in particular, many leaders have started to give more thought to wellness programmes and switched on to the benefits that wellness tools can bring to the office.

Unsurprisingly then, we’ve also seen an explosion of interest in and demand for wellness apps as 2020 has progressed, both from individuals seeking to check in with their self and prioritise their own wellbeing, and business leaders keen to support their staff during what has been a very trying time for all.

Here, we’ve rounded up some of the most popular wellness apps out there on the app stores to serve as your inspiration if you’re considering creating your own wellness app for your business in 2021.

Headspace

This app has picked up legions of celebrity and non-famous fans alike, in part due to its accessibility. Requiring just 10 minutes per day, Headspace invites users to check in for meditation sessions led by a former Buddhist monk. It hosts hundreds of guided meditations which the user can select depending on their need, with options ranging from dealing with stress and managing anxiety to tackling insomnia and building focus.

Deliciously Ella

Nutrition is one of the overall core components of wellness and advocates of a plant-based diet suggest that it can enhance overall wellness and wellbeing. The blogger and author Deliciously Ella incorporates her cult recipes – there are hundreds to choose from on the app – with handy features such as a meal planner and shopping list, podcast, yoga sessions and meditation. It’s an all-in-one wellness resource even for those who don’t follow a strictly vegan diet but want to incorporate more plant-based and vegetable dishes into their daily lives.

Viber

Viber is a wellness app with a difference in that it’s all community-led. This messaging app has more than 900 million global users which form online communities and groups for everything from fitness to book recommendations. It’s a great way to reach out and connect with others while also functioning as a useful resource and community support system. This is especially useful for those who have felt isolated during the COVID-19 pandemic, and shows how powerful a messaging app can be.

Streak

Streak helps app users to form healthy habits. It’s interface has a to do list style aesthetic, with users inputting as many as a dozen tasks they want to achieve. The tasks can relate to anything from getting in a workout to spending 10 minutes on mindfulness, reading a chapter of a book or making lunch instead of buying a ready meal.

An Apple Design award winner, the app encourages users to create a ‘streak’ of successes with tasked ticked off to create new healthy habits.
