If you’re planning on making 2020 the year that you create an app for your business, you may find some inspiration in a new report which has revealed which types of corporate app were most in demand last year.
The good news if you’re just starting out is that while some of the major names dominated the most popular app listings there were also plenty of apps from newcomers and start-ups that proved to be extremely popular with fellow business users. It’s also worth noting that the best performing apps were all subscription based, meaning earning a monthly revenue from your app could be the norm.
Microsoft Office 365
The Office app was the most in demand by corporate users the last 12 months. This should come as no surprise given its suite of tools but does suggest that there is an appetite for apps offering word processing and spreadsheet capabilities.
Salesforce
The second most popular app of the year, Salesforce has a strong focus on customer relationship management and lead management. Of course, the Salesforce platform also has integrations with thousands of other apps – perhaps this could offer you a good starting point for inspiration for your new B2B app?
Amazon web services
Amazon’s on-demand cloud computing solution was the third most popular app of 2019. Amazon Web Services is a huge platform with solutions covering everything from customer engagement and data management to storage, robotics and content delivery. This is another great source of inspiration if you haven’t yet landed on what you want your B2B app to offer.
Zoom
Zoom was the seventh most popular app and one that is showing signs that it could move up even higher in this year’s charts. The app allows video calling and conference calling via app or desktop. It’s growing its user base steadily and experts believe it could challenge for sixth on the list at the end of 2020. The firm behind the research, Okta, said, “It’s the only one that’s on the most popular apps and fastest growing apps.”
Slack
Much like Zoom, Slack is one of those names that you may not have expected to see in the top 10, but the corporate messaging service has experienced huge business demand in the last 18 months. It sits above Zoom as the sixth most popular app of the year. Taking inspiration from Slack and Zoom, could workplace collaboration be a possible avenue for your new business app?
